Recovering a lost item should not count towards the number of completed quests

I'm writing this feedback as a quest lover and a possessor of the Quest Specialist Medal. As many of you know you need to complete 800 quests to gain the medal, which really is doable, although of course very time demanding. I stumbled across the Quest Specialist Guide ( https://mapleroyals.com/forum/threads/quest-specialist-guide-hidden-and-missable-quests.109922/ ) thread last week, written by @Inusama (great guide btw, really nice job and lots of valuable information), where I found a heading saying "Replacement Item Quests (Missable!)". Under that there are lots of quests listed where you get a quest completed for throwing away a unique quest item and then recovering it. This is not how I think it should work. It's really great that you in the last update made every quest item retainable so that you're not completely screwed if you accidentally drop it, that I am all for. But that you get a completed quest for an actual mistake is kinda wrong in my opinion. I know this is isn't the biggest of deals even to me and even less to 95% of everyone else on this server, but I still wanted to mention it.

One thing I do think should count towards the medal though are medal quests. Running all around Nihal Desert, collecting 100 monster cards or killing 100 000 monsters in 30 days is in my opinion well worthy of a completed quest. The "job medals" maybe shouldn't count but other than that I think most of them should. I don't know if this is possible to change but I think it would be a nice addition for all the questers.

I hope I'm not too nerdy and specific for everyone's taste, I just wanted to share some thoughts. What do you think? :D

Hmm, I'm not too bothered about whether they count as actual quests or not. I missed out on pretty much all of them when I got my first quest specialist medal because these replacement item quests are more of an old GMS relic - here we have maxed out inventory space so it's less likely you'd toss a quest item to free up space. Other questlines handle this by instead allowing you to obtain a new one by forfeiting the quest and starting it again.

So far we've found 25 missable item replacement quests (there are more that aren't missable). Out of those most are pretty easy to complete, only requiring a small meso fee. Some are certainly costly however, requiring refined gems and in one case 600 monster drops.

I don't think making them not count would be worth the effort, really. They either go completely ignored since dropping key items is kind of dumb or they make getting the medal easier. The medal is already way easier to acquire now compared to when it was first made available since droprates have improved and all the quests actually work!

I understand the part of it being too much trouble fixing. But I still think it's kinda trash that you can get another quest completed through making a misstake (which dropping a quest item is). Sure, you should get the item back, but you shouldn't get another quest completed for it. And I mean, it is dumb dropping the items, yes. But now it really isn't anymore since you then get a faster road to completing Quest Specialist. And I don't think it's okay just because it's easier to get the medal now, that should rather make it even more important to not be able to get completed quests this way.

By the way, I was a giant quester at that time with the terrible Marble drop rate aswell. I even remember that the reason I didn't stop looking for it after killing about 20 bosses was that you said you got it. I think it took me about 20 more to get it then lol :D. And yes, I know the feeling of a quest not working, it really was the worst. I don't think we should compare today's situation to that though. All quests should be working, that's how it's supposed to be. But just as I said: since it's easier now, it should be more important to fix this.

I disagree. If someone is knowledgeable enough to go through the process of making sure to complete recovery quests to count towards the total, more power to them imo. It doesn't make a huge difference towards the total, and it's unlikely to happen as an actual mistake (meaning the person actually had to go out of their way to make sure to do it for the relevant quest items) so I think it should continue to count. Also rewards completionist behavior lol
